We truly appreciate the volunteer guide service provided through aitaiJapan. Commitment of volunteers to take a whole day out of their busy schedule is remarkable, and we admire all volunteer guides for this.
Well in advance of our trip, our guide spent significant amount of time developing several optional itineraries for our day, taking into considerations other tours that we were planning to take.
As this was our first visit to Japan, we were a bit concerned about complexity of the Tokyo’s transportation system, so our guide agreed to meet us in the lobby of our hotel. Then she showed us how to use Tokyo subway and train system, and we went on our all day- and evening-long tour. She introduced Tokyo to us and showed many interesting places. It was truly an ice-breaker, after which we became much more comfortable with Tokyo and its transportation system.
Thank you very much Japan for your hospitality.

As I mentioned in my previous comment regarding our guide in Tokyo, we sincerely appreciate the volunteer guide service provided through aitaiJapan. This is just another way Japanese people show their hospitality, and it is very admirable.
Our guide in Kyoto (she actually came all way from Osaka) helped us to complete a hiking tour in Kurama (a village just north of Kyoto), and get some experience of hot spring bathing. It was great, an we had very good time. She even gave us some handmade Japanese crafts as souvenirs, which was very nice.
Another huge benefit of spending a day with a local guide was that you could learn a lot about Japan and its people from a real person, not from a book.
Many thanks to our lovely guide and aitaiJapan. We love Japan, and we will come again.
