Conditions for guides

- Japanese nationals over 20 years old or foreign long term residents with basic Japanese abilities can apply to become a volunteer guide-interpreter.
- Guide-interpreters should have communication skills in at least one foreign language (other than Japanese) and good abilities to interact with visitors from other cultures.
- Professional guide experience is not required, but guides should be motivated, enthusiastic, and possibly have some special interests related to Japan .
- Please be aware that volunteer guides will not receive any compensation for their guide services, but visitors are expected to cover all expenses during the guide’s activities. Such expenses may include food, admission fees, and travel expenses incurred both during guide activities as well as the round trip cost of the guide’s trip to and from home.
